About Me

Hypnotherapist | Counsellor

Carole Freeman

I am an experienced counsellor of twelve years. I was a foster carer for over twenty five years this involved working with families in crisis. The experience involved working with abuse of all kinds. I learnt that building self esteem, assertiveness and self belief can prevent being badly treated by others. Later working with Cruse Bereavement Care as a counsellor was a valued piece of my training.

I use a Humanistic approach in my counselling work. My aim is to relate to my clients with honesty and congruence. I offer a service that embraces diversity. I offer flexible appointment times, a confidential healing space, easy parking and a disabled friendly ground floor room.

The Aim of Therapy Is To Become The Person That You Want To Be

Are you in a difficult relationship?

Is there something you need to let go of?

Do you keep on experiencing the same problems?

Are you feeling bogged down and just need help to clarify what is going on?

Has some traumatic experience happened to you that you have never spoken of but need to deal with?

Would you like to feel differently?

Does your lack of confidence prevent you from doing what you would really want to do?

Is there anything you would like to change about yourself?

We can work with what is present for you or more historic exploration if that is what you need to do. I use a Humanistic approach in my counselling work. I offer short or long term counselling, whatever is best for you. I have experience of working with a wide range of issues. These include low self esteem, confidence, childhood abuse, abuse of all kinds, relationship issues, anger, depression, and grief/bereavement.

My counselling appointments are tailored to meet your individual needs. I use many approaches to help you get to where you want to be. I encourage goal setting and we review your appointments to help you to move forwards. I have a warm and professional approach. Counselling can promote change that will last your lifetime.

Your First Appointment

We would agree a mutual time. The session would be for one hour. During this first hour we would decide if we can work together. There is no obligation. This is a chance to sample how I work and how we work together. I would give you an idea of how many sessions you may require.

Grief and Loss Counselling

When someone close to us dies it can be the worst pain we will ever know. Grief can overwhelm us. The intensity of those feelings in us can be quite frightening. If you have suffered a loss then counselling may be able to help you through the worst times. There are times when you are unable to see any light at all. The grief process can often depend on the kind of relationship that we had with the deceased. Talking these things through with someone who understands can be a comfort. It could be that the situation surrounding the loved ones death is particularly hard to bear, and not in the natural way of things, then being able to express feelings within a safe healing space can help. At this time it is important not to bottle things up because the feelings need to come out somewhere. If we do not allow them to then once we internalise them it can manifest into drinking too much, overworking, or being over stressed.

There is no set time for the grieving process it affects each person differently. Between one and two years is often how long it can take before we feel life has taken on some normality again.

The purpose of grief counselling is to help the person to come to terms with their bereavement and to help them work through their feelings of pain and loss. It is also to help to find a way of adjusting to life in a world without the deceased and eventually moving on in a way that integrates their loss in a meaningful way.

Stop the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message he is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policeman wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North my South, my East my West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, My midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever, I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.
W.H. Auden
